Whether you're looking for shops or sports, homes or history, culture or cuisine or day or nighttime entertainment, the Richmond Region has something for every taste and budget. With more than 60 attractions, 11 malls, four distinct seasons and one river with the only class IV rapids in an urban U.S. setting, it's always the perfect time to visit.

Arts & Entertainment
The Richmond Region's cultural scene offers a year-round schedule of musical, theatrical, artistic and dance performances. Many professional arts groups, including the Richmond Ballet, Richmond Symphony and Virginia Opera, perform annually in the Region.

Family Fun
Paramount's Kings Dominion has more than 200 rides, a 19-acre water park and costumed characters like Scooby Doo and SpongeBob. The Metro Richmond Zoo's naturalistic exhibits are home to 600 animals including giraffe, kangaroos and chimpanzees, while visitors to Maymont's Children's Barn and Nature Center can visit with goats, geese and otters.

Gardens & Nature
With its four distinct seasons, the Richmond Region is a garden lovers' paradise. You won't want to miss springtime in the Region - from the million tulip blooms at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to annual Historic Garden Week when some of the area's most gorgeous homes and gardens are opened for public tours.

Museums
Many of the museums located on or near the Boulevard in the Region's Fan District are within walking distance of each other. Walk through 400 years of history at the Virginia Historical Society or gaze at the largest public display of Fabergé objects outside of Russia at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. For the young at heart, follow your shadow at the Children's Museum of Richmond's newest exhibit or watch an IMAX film at the neighboring Science Museum of Virginia.

Shopping
From traditional suburban shopping malls and quaint specialty stores to eclectic boutiques and gem-filled antique shops, the Richmond Region has its share of shopping. Shop-a-holics were thrilled with the opening of Short Pump Town Center and Stony Point Fashion Park, two upscale, open-air shopping malls, in 2003.
